
Stains are annoying and frustrating. Stain removers can remove tough stains, but they can harm the materials and cause permanent damage. In addition, many people are sensitive to the harsh chemicals of these removers. Luckily, there are safer ways to get rid of common stains using natural ingredients. Read on.
For perfume stains: baking soda
Perfumes cause yellow stains on the fabric. Simply soak the cloth in water with baking soda for about 15 minutes, and then rinse. Baking soda is effective in removing such stains, and you can easily find it in your kitchen.
For lipstick stain: dish-washing soap
A mild liquid dish-washing soap can get rid of lipstick stains. Dab the area with the soap and allow it to sit for 10 minutes. Rinse the fabric with clean water afterwards.
For coffee stain: vinegar
Coffee can annoy you a lot when you spilled some on your clothes. Pour some white vinegar onto a towel, and use it to pat the stained area/s before washing. You may want to soak the fabric overnight for larger stains before rinsing.
For sweat stain: lemon
Sweat stains are easy to remove when you have lemon in the kitchen. Mix equal parts of water and lemon, and rub it on the stained area. Use lemon juice with baking soda to scrub it away, and then wash.
For blood stain: vinegar
Pour white vinegar on the stained area and soak for 10 minutes. Blot with a towel or cloth, then wash immediately. Repeat if necessary.
For ink stain: hair spray
Hair spray is a common remedy for ink stains. Place a clean cloth under the stained area before spraying to protect any other layers. Let it soak for a while, and then use a clean cloth to blot the stain.
For chocolate stain: dish-washing soap
Soak the fabric in warm soapy water to loosen the stain. If the stain is still visible, dan the area using water mixed with dish soap. Rinse with warm water.
For red wine stain: white wine
White wine works great in getting rid of red wine stain. Dab paper towels on the stain, and then flush with white wine and blot dry. Flush the area with club soda, and then white vinegar.
For tea stain: vinegar
Pour a teaspoon of vinegar in a liter of water. Spray the mixture on the stained area and let it soak for 10 minutes. Rub the stain before rinsing with cold water.
For oil stain: white chalk
Rub the stain using white chalk to let it absorb the oil. Soak for an hour or two before rinsing with water. Repeat whenever necessary.
