The key to staying youthful lies in your skin care routine. However, many people feel discouraged because beauty products tend to be costly. Some people complain that the chemicals in these products further damaged their skin, but there is still hope.
This article will give you the six face mask recipes that you can do at home. They may seem yucky to look at, but they are extremely effective and safe on the skin. Just know that the results will vary, depending on how your skin will respond.
Effective DIY Face Masks
Apple Cider Vinegar Face Mask
You need one-fourth cup of apple cider vinegar, and one-fourth cup of water. Mix the water and vinegar in a small bowl, and wash your face to prepare it for the mask. Apply the mixture gently onto your face, and allow it to dry. You can rinse it off your face after 10 minutes.
Vinegar works great as a skin toner. You can also make a facial cleanser out of it by mixing a tablespoon with two cups of water. Not only is this recipe easy to make, it is also inexpensive.
Honey Face Mask
This facial mask has been a popular home remedy for blemishes, scars, and acne. If you worry about the side effects of anti-acne medications, then this recipe is for you. Honey face mask works because the ingredient contains natural antioxidant and antibacterial properties that make your skin smooth and moist. Prepare as much honey as you need, and apply it gently over your face. Make sure that you are using a filtered honey, and not the one meant for cooking.
Milk Face Mask
You need a one-fourth cup of milk and two tablespoons of brown sugar for this face mask recipe. Mix the two ingredients in a small bowl until it becomes like a thick soup. Make sure to wash your face first before apply this mixture over your face. Scrub gently and leave it on for about five to 10 minutes. For better results, add a spoonful of salt and two eggs into the mixture.
Oatmeal with Almonds and Honey Facial Mask
Prepare half a cup of oatmeal, a teaspoon of honey, and two spoonfuls of almonds. Make the oatmeal as instructed, but you can either mix water or milk with it. Chop the almonds to make them fine enough, and stir them into the oatmeal. Complete the recipe by adding the honey.
If the mixture is too thick, you can add a bit of water or milk until you get it right. Spread the mixture over your face, and let it set for 10 minutes. Rinse off with cold water.
Yogurt and Lavender Face Mask
This facial mask is a great option for relaxation. Prepare a few drops of lavender oil, and two tablespoons of yogurt. Mix the two ingredients and spread it evenly over your face. Allow it to set for about 10 minutes.
You can choose to let it stay a little longer as desired. If you do not have lavender oil, you can use a 1/3 tablespoon of crushed dried lavender. Aside from relaxation, this facial mask can also help reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.
Avocado Face Mask
Avocado contains nutrients that promote skin health, especially if you have oily skin. Make a facial mask by mixing half of an avocado with a teaspoon of lemon juice. Make sure that the avocado is mashed well enough that it has become creamy and has no lumps. Add the lemon juice if you plan to save some of it for later use.
Wash your face thoroughly with warm water. Spread a thin layer of the mixture over your face, and allow it to set for 15 minutes or until it dries up. The longer you wear it, the better.
